There are always some things that provide comfort. Stores and restaurants, for instance, are available round the clock everyday. It's comforting to know there's always somewhere to go where someone else will be. Hearing your pet's footsteps, the footprints of numerous animals on the ground, squirrels eating with both hands and the pouring of milk into coffee. Watering your plants and watching the soil go from dry to wet. Feeling the sun's warmth against your back.
For discovering a music you've never heard before that feels as if it was written — in particular for you, at that very moment. Seeing a single flower growing in an unexpected place inspires you to believe that even the most unusual or even impossible things could happen. Imagining that the moon is actually following you, that it’s keeping an eye on you to make sure you’re safe. The warmth of a cup of hot coffee pervades your entire being. It's hard to believe there was a time when you couldn't talk or utter a single word. Take a look at how far you've come. Did you know there's a type of bee that naps curled up in a flower? Some say that when dogs dream, they probably think about chasing squirrels, chasing rabbits, and playing fetch with you.
Beauty diminishes over time. There’s something oddly comforting about that. Nothing, in reality, is truly permanent. No sentiment of embarrassment, grief, or guilt will last as long as it did when it happened recently. We're only specks in the vast scheme of things, and we'll be forgotten one day. So it makes little difference what we've done in the past or how we'll be remembered.
Those Little raindrops rush down the car window on a warm summer day, and I'm rooting for that one unusual raindrop as they all fall down the window. The fact that so many of us can relate to that. We appear to believe that such experiences are special and unique to us, although we have a lot more in common than we believe. I'm keen by how easily children can be entertained, and amused by the sweet little sneezing noises dogs make to let you know that they're just playing. I observed a kid bounce up and down from the same rock at least ten times the other day. That reminds me that we live on a floating rock, and sometimes we respond as though it's moving a little too rapidly, causing us to lose our balance. Being childish is comforting, sometimes. No one thinks of ourselves as terribly as we do of ourselves.
Have you ever wondered why birds start singing so early in the morning? Some argue that early mornings are too dark to look for food and too dark for predators to see you. It's the ideal time to sing because of this. If, after a long day, no matter how tough or tiring, you can sleep in your own bed tonight, things may be better than you think. Being able to express emotions, to cry, is comforting. Shed a tear if you feel like it. It's something we all do from time to time. Things will get Better. And finally, you. Someone feels comforted by your presence.
